I post this here just because I believe it is an excellent lesson in fanboyism, marketing, and all around misinformation. Enjoy ^_^

Yes but it was funny.2046 wrote:That's emphatically not what versus debates should be.
In the first few moments, he declares phasers to be masers and further declares that a "few broadsides" of bullets from Galactica would be sufficient to overwhelm the shields.
The hell? That's just some guy talking out of his ass.

What was also funny was the guy who came in arguing that Galactica would win because Galactica, contrary to Trek, was a lot more versed in real science then Trek, and tried to appeal to real science books to "prove his point.
He, of course, completely forgot about Cylons (walking, talking AIs), the Galactica's FTL, artificial gravity shown in Galactica (none of the ships rotate even in the slightest in order to give their crew the illusion of Earth-like gravity), etc...
He was right, Galactica is indeed versed in real science... ;)

In TOS Galactica, that would be correct. In the RDM Galactica, the ringed passenger liner Zephyr (seen here) rotates apparently to produce artifical gravity.Praeothmin wrote: (none of the ships rotate even in the slightest in order to give their crew the illusion of Earth-like gravity), etc...

It reminded me a lot of the "debate" style of the Starship Smackdown at San Diego ComicCon... Not to be taken seriously at all. Look at the article, the guy established numerous tactical and strategic advantages to the Enterprise. Far more than he did to the Galactica, and yet he declared the Galactica the winner, despite the Enterprise's more numerous and important advantages.l33telboi wrote:That's how versus debating should be. Fun and lighthearted. Not this perverse crap we like to do these days. Though naturally, there are a few things there that could be improved, like nukes versus anti-matter weapons. But then that's also why they call it debating.

About 1/3 of the page down, look for LOBO95.The Corporal wrote:Where was this?
Cherry-picking at its best... :)
Well, it does have a ring, but where is it mentioned that it actually turns?Mike D wrote:In TOS Galactica, that would be correct. In the RDM Galactica, the ringed passenger liner Zephyr (seen here) rotates apparently to produce artifical gravity.
And anyway, it doesn't matter, because that's 1 ship out of what, 20, 30?
My point still stands... :)
