That might work, although I have no experience with digital art programs other than MSPaint and Photoshop, and as for handdrawn, my scanner's wacky, so, until that mess is fixed, none of my doodles are getting online.

And good job, sonofccn, for capturing the MarySue-ness of Wesley in that little thing you wrote.

After getting my senses back from the rather sudden blast that hit us, I realized that young cadet Sonofccn had managed to reroute weapons to his console again without permission. That was the third time this week...

Next time I'd have to encrypt the system properly (and I needed to have a bit of a chat with the over-eager lad, he nearly disabled the automated threat response systems), which was a good idea anyway. Can't be too careful. The galaxy is a hostile place and though the Federation isn't, some of us have to assume the worst so that the rest of us are safe.

At least the automated alert procedures where in perfect working order. With a bit of a smirk I realised that the deflectors had raised just in time to stop the brunt of the attack, wich read as some sort of rather unsual plasma/photon container beam. Damage was far worse than we could see on the bridge without checking the damage report...

"Captain, I have a damage report for you. The intial blast was only partially deflected and caused hull breeches on decks 2, 3 and 5. Two plasma conduits have ruptured, internal forcefields have failed in sections 12, 15 and 17 on deck 5. Casualty numbers are not yet available"

We where lucky, if they had hit us on a different spot we might have had a wholely different story to tell.. Just to be sure I reinforced the shield sections facing the enemy vessel. I would not be caught of guard again!

"Furthermore, I reccomend extreme caution dealing with these people, their weapons may have short range but they are far from harmless!"

@Roondar: A nice little entry.

However if you wish for me to stop rerouting fire controls you obviously need to use an encryption that not every 11th level intellect, much less one of my vaunted ability, can crack on his lunch break. :-)

Hmm, can I use my real world IT expertise to design it?
Cuz then I can get you beat on the first try, guaranteed ;)

To say that the readings were unusual would be an understatement. Despite the scans showing a very advanced FTL drive, the weapons were primitive. Outdated laser-started plasma weapons and ion cannons seemed to be the primary weapons. However, while they lacked the technology, they made up for it in firepower.

However, there is something I must say. Cadet Sonofccn's rerouting of my scans was irritating. No, that's not the right word. Annoying as hell would fit better. However, I noticed Roondar doing something on his console. Peering over, I noticed something about his console.

"Encryption code?" I asked.
"Yep."
"To block sonofccn?"
"Uh-huh."
"Do you think you could right one for my console? And I want it not only to block sonofccn, but also to..."
I told him what I wanted. He smirked.
"Oh, you're evil." He said.
"I know. So, can you?"
"With pleasure."

Lt. Praeothmin, Security Chief:

As I was walking to the Holo-Gym, the ship lurched violently and threw me against a bulkhead.
My training had kicked in automatically, and instead of my head, my two forearms had suffered the brunt of the impact.
After a cursory inspection of myseld, determining I only had bruises, I went to the nearest Comm panel and called out:
"Security alert, dispatch emergency teams on decks... 2, 3 and 5 (I said after checking damage reports). Make sure you get everyone out safely, and coordinate with Engineering teams as soon as they get there. I'm on my way!"

As I was making my way to the damaged sections, I was wondering why the hell Starfleet always kept bumping into hostile races everywhere we went.
Wishing that we would one day encounter a race of proto-Risans and a love mission, I made my way towards the current problems, hoping the casualties weren't too high this time...
Damn violence, some day I hope to be out of a job...

"Crap, here he comes!" Roondar said. Both of us ran back to our stations as Sonofccn walked onto the bridge.
"Ya know what, I think I'll take some scans of that anomaly!" He prodly said, and began transferring the controls from the science console over to his. Without warning, a video of Rick Astley in his music video of "Never Gonna Give You Up" began playing on the console. He sat dumbfounded, wondering who could have Rickroll'd him. Meanwhile in the back, Roondar and I were struggling not to laugh.

"I got it, I got it." I said quickly shutting down the music video, obviously the adaptive Iden programing doing, and activated the secondary sensors." I can confirm the photon torpedo struck, minimal hull scoring due to low yield."

"I can confirm that." Khas, sounding like he was having a coughing fit, answered reading his sensor log." Five percent drop from their energy emitters rerouted to both shielding types."

"Captain..." I said as I found my controls over the phasers and torpedoes suddenly locked out, Roondar obviously jealous of the markmenship my superior intellect bestowed upon me." Request permission to reconfigure the deflecter dish. If we feed it a pulse of netrinos through it directed at a pinch of ionized gas transported against thier shield..."

"Captain. Alien vessel has ceased fire for the moment." Roondar, sounding like he too had something stuck in his throat, stated.

"Incoming hail, audio only no visual." The comunication officer reported turning partly in her chair towards JediMasterSpock.

"This is Admiral Bloodripper of the Imperial Fleet. Identify yourself or be charged with treason against the Emperour!" A harsh voice demanded." You have five subunits to reply or we will resume fire."

"Captain. Alien vessel has ceased fire for the moment."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing... Tampering with the deflector, which had just -barely- saved us from becoming toast while at spitting distance from the enemy ship that just shot at us?

It was bad enough as it was, the plasma conduits which where damaged happened to be part of the grid leading to the starboard shield generator, which was now running on only one of three feeds - crippling our defenses in that region. On top of it plasma was still leaking in at least one of the rooms - meaning our entrepid security chief was in quite a bit more danger than he might think.

"Captain, the situation on decks 2,3 and 5 is getting worse. We have 3 confirmed wounded and 12 further missing people. Internal forcefields are fluctuating due to the plasma leaks. I recommend evacuating these sections quickly! The plasma leaks are interfering with our shield capacity, they need to get fixed!"

I could only hope engineering managed to reroute those plasma streams. Bridge controls where out, it would have to be done on location. I smelled trouble. Especially with those 5 standard units counting down, however long those might be.

Oh well, best I could do was to keep the weapons online at maximum capacity and somehow get the starboard shields in better shape without blowing out the emitter. Or magic up some power somewhere...

Chief Engineer's Log
Commander Cocytus
Stardate 60032.4

I've spent the last two years of my life as one of the higher-ups of Starfleet Research and Development, arguing tirelessly in support of immediate fleetwide implementation of transphasic torpedoes and ablative armor generators, and being stymied at every turn by the insufferable bureaucrats of Temporal Investigations. I've argued for these technologies as threat-reduction strategies, and even Vulcan Science Minister Sar'Tek said "my logic was sound." Our beleaguered Federation never seems to want for enemies these days, whether they desire our resources or merely wish to stamp out our egalitarianism. In any event, I was overruled.

Having had my fill of R&D (what is the point of developing technologies if they just keep getting shelved) I decided it was time to return to the field. Thankfully, there was a Sovereign-class ship heading out on a deep-space mission that just so happened to have a spot open for Chief Engineer, and they were happy to have my expertise. I knew of the captain's exploits, his tireless defense of the Federation from those who seek to harm it, and his steadfast adherence to morality and logic, a far cry from the devious and insidious tactics of so many of our opponents. As for the rest of the crew, well, it seems some of the younger officers are a bit, how can I put this, rambunctious.

Today, as luck would have it, I may have gotten the strongest evidence yet in favor of my arguments at R&D. We were attacked by something I've never seen before, a 1600 meter long, dagger shaped ship that didn't conform to anything in our database. I was immediately struck by the uncompromisingly martial design, over one hundred weapon emplacements, all facing to the front and the sides. It seems they neglected aft defenses, opting for a strategy, if one could call it that, of all-out full frontal assault. We got a taste of it today. The ship unquestionably possesses considerable firepower, though its range and maneuvering capabilties were visibly inferior to our own. Curiously, it seems they have shield designed specifically to block either energy or particle attacks, but not both simultaneously. In any event, I was jolted out of my duties in engineering by the unexpected attack. EPS conduits blew out all over the place, and we were hard-pressed to lock down all the leaks. It seems decks 2,3, and 5 bore the brunt of the impact. I've put crews to work locking those sections down. For some reason my calls to the bridge were repeatedly diverted. Seems someone was rerouting command pathways without authorization. At one point I heard some kind of music over the comm, no idea what it was. Oh well, shipboard discipline isn't my department. I may be commander by rank, but I ever wanted to be anything else but an engineer. I learned from one of my mentors that "a ship is only as good as the engineer who takes care of her." Wouldn't say who he heard it from, but it must have been a hell of an engineer.

In any event, it is clear to me the Federation has a new enemy, an Empire of some sort, one which will not be easily defeated. I said I was looking forward to getting back on a starship, and it certainly hasn't been boring. I just hope the fools at Temporal Investigations are watching this.

Computer, encrypt recording. Can't have just anyone reading that last bit.

I had been fleeing imperial space for almost two weeks straight, it seemed everytime I cane out of hyperspace there was another imperial patrol waiting for me. I was being guided somewhere... I could feel the force leading me almost pulling me to something important. I hoped the force knew what it was doing.

The turbo lasers that greeted me at my destination made me think that it did not.

Still there was something here, I felt it as my Y-Wing dodged incoming tie fighters... I felt out with the force and there it was, a gathering of energies... No, a gathering of the force. I flew straight for it, knowing that whatever awaited me there had to be better than what was awaiting me here.

After I entered I felt my body stretch and bend, I was disoriented and becoming sick... "oh shit" was my last thought.

When I awoke I found myself in one piece and my fighter safe and sound on a small rock. I thanked the force for seeing me through when suddenly I saw the familiar green of turbo laser fire.

"Really? All that to be killed anyway, honestly what a waste of ti-". I was cut off by my own eyes, there was another ship and the star destroyer was focusing on her... I had a chance, if only I could get a message to someone there, maybe they could help... I saw the ship return fire and land a direct hit on the star destroyer. Now was my chance... I reached out with the force but had no luck... One other option, I culould open a communication channel, fly towards her and pray the tractor beams and turbo lasers wouldn't blow me out of the sky... Or I could stay put.

I liked the latter option but my life support warning light came on right then. I looked up and cursed the force.

"okay okay!!! I'm going!"

stupid force.

I put through my message and hit my engines to full burn.

"This is Jedi Knight Trinoya! I request your protection and aid! Also I hope that big door looking thing is your docking bay or else this may be a rough landing!"

No sooner did I finish then did a familiar green light fill my sky again...

"I really hope you know what you are doing, cause I sure don't!"

The force, as always, chose to leave me in the dark... again.

"This is Jedi Knight Trinoya! I request your protection and aid! Also I hope that big door looking thing is your docking bay or else this may be a rough landing!"

The message came in on the tail end on Bloodripper's comunication and for a moment I feared the dagger shaped warship was meant to impale us. That, due to my massive intellect, passed quickly as I realized what I had heard was a distinct seperate transmission from a third party yet unnoticed.

"Source of that transmission?" JediMasterSpock inquired looking towards Khas.

"Small, one man shuttle-pod sir accelerating towards us on a collison course." Khas answered a split second later after I learned it.

It was a puny craft, barely a shuttle according to sensors, with an energy signature that appeared to be dwindling. What was worse, as I figured out no doubt before anyone else on the bridge, however was that judging from the message the pilot was attempting a docking procedure, galloping headlong towards our protective matrix which would brush it aside as I brush aside such tedious works as quantum theroem. The alien shuttle possesing dubious potentional to survive the shock unscathered and for a moment a felt a twing of pity, through just a twing since it didn't directly involve me, and that should have been that. What happened next I can not explain, which says much, because it had nothing to do with logica or sanity. As I stared at the sensor readouts of the tiny vessel I thought I heard someone or something whisper into my ear. It sounded like the buzz of a fly yet I was in the sterile enviroment of a starship.

I can not explain nor can I explain why I began to key in my proper sequence for my Sonofccn Omega code. A subroutine I had...smuggled...into the computer's core systems on the off chance, but completly valid and therefore should be prepared against, that the Captain, the first officer and all the other "command rank" individuals between me and running the ship might befall some horrible accident and I would be forced, oh how I would dread it, to lead my fellows using only my mammoth intellect and ability.

In a nutshell the program deactivated the bridge crew's access clearence from "vital" systems such as helm control, weapons, transporters, sensors etc and left only the one I created for myself which rivaled the Captain's in authority.

"This is odd." I mumbled to myself, the rest of the crew no doubt suddenly surprised as errors rose up on thier screens, as I lowered our deflector screen and prepared a transporter lock onto the ship's occupant.

It was only as the transporter cycle started that it dawned on my that I had delibertly made our ship vunerable to the alien's fire, for another 6.5 seconds at least, should they wish to resume hostilities. Worse I think I may have actually made the Captain mad.

"What in the name of Surak is going on?" He said with a slightly raised voice which for him was a full furious storm.

"Me?" I suggested as confused as he was." I think."

In a flash, all systems on the console froze as a seemingly outside force cancelled the entire Bridge Crews autorithy. It also finally showed just why communications inside the ship where on the fritz: all the messing about with rerouting controls from one person to the next had triggered a bug in the comms processing unit where it would, more or less randomly, select any of the transfered stations as it's new destination.

And then I heard him, oh nemesis of my good nights sleep, "Me... I think" he said.

6.5 seconds are like an ice age in space combat, I could do very little when I saw the power spark in the ship ahead. Very little but pray that my next trick would not be my last...

Diving below the tactical console, I did something security would hate to find out was even possible, and janked out the command processors connection to the other bridge stations, getting a nasty shock in doing so. After that I pressed the manual override code for emergency shielding. My hand felt numb, skin broken and blackened on it, probably third degree burns.

Exactly 5.9 seconds after transport started, the shields came back online. Just in time, as the odd laser/plasma weapons hit us hard on the bridge section, the engineering section and our main forward torpedo launcher at almost the exact same moment. The 'shuttle' which approached us incinerated on the now operating deflectors in a burst of sparks.

With bridge control of weapons still down, I had to return fire the old fashioned way.
"Roondar to engineering! No time to explain the situation, bridge weapons control has been compromised: fire phasers on manual at coordinates 347 by 87 by 98!"

Luckilly Sonofccn's little trick had restored communications so the message got through.
Just as the next one from the transporter chief. It seems that by a sheer miracle - and no short sign of his brilliance - he managed to get the new person, this jedi, aboard in 0.6 seconds less than normal.

I shuddered... Everyone knew that rapid transport was quite disorienting and could even be rather painful as some parts of the body might rematerialize slightly out of sync with others. Well, at least our 'guest' was alive...

All I could do now was to report the situation "Captain, shields down to 78% and on manual control only!".

Commander - Enterprise E - Fighter Squadron leader's Personal Log: Status - Heavily Encrypted

Stardate - 60032.5

I was approaching the holodeck to get in some more simulator time for my flight duties when the ship violently lurched. I stuck my arms out to brace myself against the wall to avoid any serious injury. There, I walked with a mixture of apprehension and excitement towards the main shuttle bay. It was odd for a starship like a Sovereign Class to get a squadron of starfighters, but times were changing. The effectiveness of starfighters during the Dominion War had convinced Starfleet that they were more than simply flying death traps when dealing with larger captial ships and, in sufficient numbers, could pose a threat even against larger capital ships. Still, since we were currently at peace, I was surprised that my squadron had been sent to this starship. The services of starfigher pilots, and my squadron had not been needed in the two months that I had served on this ship. I had a feeling, though, that that might change in the not too distant future. I was also happy that I was also certified on all current generation shuttlecrafts, runabouts, and even the Delta Fliers. I picked up my pace as I continued on towards the main shuttle bay. On the way I ran into some of my squadmates. "Hey, Enterprise, what's up?" my second in command, Lieutenant Commander Hunter asked.

"I don't know," I replied. "All I know right is that we're under attack so our services could be called upon at a moment's notice. Be ready for anything."

"Yeah, well I saw it," chimed in Ensign Schafer. The ship out there is huge.

What was the strangest part of this was that I could visualize the ship. "Is it shaped like a triangle wedge with a rectangular tower on its back framed by two globes that call out to pilots like us 'shoot me'?"

"Yeah," I heard Schafer reply with some trepidation in his voice. "How did you know? Did you see it?"

"No," I replied. "I just had a feeling that that was what the enemy looked like."

And that was not all. I had a bad feeling that this was only the beginning. I had never had a bad feeling like this before; not even just before the Borg attack on Earth or the Dominion War. I could feel energy flowing through me. I knew now, beyond a shadow of a doubt. Things were about to get a lot worse. And on top of that, my secret would soon be revealed.

I saw the vessel getting larger and a ping of the force informed me something was off... My sensors had informed me of no particle shielding and some sort of odd ray shielding...

I soon discovered that was not the case... I saw them flicker out of existence and realized that the force was telling me to punch it.. and I did..

Getting as close as possible I saw the green blobs of energy approaching me...

"Damnit... They're gonna hit one of us... Well, better me than th---what the hell!?" Everything suddenly went blue...

Was this the neither world of the force? Was I dead? I felt for a moment in tune with the universe.. with all living things only to be snatched back at the last second, violently...

I almost had felt. .truly enlightened to the mysteries of the force...

The sudden pull back into a strange environment left me in some slight pain... I realized something wasn't working right.. something wasn't going to succeed all the way... and so I reached out again and told the force to get off its sorry ass and save mine..

For once... it agreed. Everything came back into focus and I found myself in a pristine room... Two men dressed in gray and yellow garb stood there with what I presumed could only be weapons aimed at me.

Well.. where ever I was I certainly wasn't in an imperial brig.. that was a plus...

As I finished that thought the room lurched to one side and one of the men flew across the room.. I reached out with my hand, grabbing him in mid air with the force... The other looked on in shock..

It was as if they had never seen a Jedi before.

...

...
...

Oh shit.

I at this point decided that the force hadn't saved me so much as it had decided that this would be a really funny joke.

..

I think the force likes jokes.

Regardless of its love of irony or just screwing with me it quietly filled me in on my location... the ship..

".... Spool up your hyperdrives.. I don't know how you pulled me on board, but if they figure out I am here they will ram you before letting you go!" I then of course hoped they spoke basic...

..

Please dear force let them speak basic.
